Visitor Information

Santa Fe - The City Different

Nestled in the foothills at the southern tip of the Rocky Mountains, Santa Fe is surrounded by thousands of acres of National Forest and wilderness, and yet it is only an hour's shuttle or drive to the Albuquerque International Airport.

Known as the "City Different" Santa Fe is a sophisticated small city linked to its remarkable history through its architecture, traditions and multi-cultural population. It is a city of abundant fine arts, world-class performing arts and natural beauty.

Add a few extra days to take in the area’s unique Spanish and Native American heritage. Visit one of the 19 Indian Pueblos or absorb the "City of Faith." Santa Fe is well known as a center for alternative healing, spirituality and culture as well as for art (with over 150 galleries). There is also hang-gliding, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding and hotsprings.

In town, a few museums you may want to visit include: Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of International Folk Art, Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, Palace of the Governors, Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian, Institute of American Indian Arts Museum, El Museo Cultural de Santa Fe and Santa Fe Children’s Museum.

With a drive or a tour you can visit Albuquerque, Taos, Carlsbad Caverns, Bandelier Cliff Dwellings, Petroglyph National Monument or take a ride on the world’s longest Tramway to the top of Sandia Peak.

Hilton Buffalo Thunder Resort

Hilton Santa Fe Resort and Spa at Buffalo Thunder is our host hotel and conference location. Sessions will take place in the elegant 16,000 square foot ballroom and several breakout rooms.

Buffalo Thunder Resort is nestled into 587 acres of Native American land set against the majestic Sangre de Cristo mountains. It is a showcase of art work from pueblos throughout New Mexico. The lobby, hallways, meeting rooms and hotel rooms are decorated with Native American paintings, sculptures, furniture, photos and other works of art. It is located 15 minutes from the Plaza in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

We suggest booking your room early. We have negotiated a special discount rate of only $109/119 (single/double) for conference attendees (regular rates are $289 - $389). You can register online for your hotel and get an instant confirmation at www.santafebuffalothunder.hilton.com. Use the Group Code CSC.

If the resort is full, contact The Message Company or check our website for nearby lodging offering special discount rates.

Buffalo Thunder Resort has a 16,000 square foot spa, salon and fitness center, indoor and outdoor heated pools, an 8,000 square foot Children’s Activity Center with computer labs, kids pools, library and theatre (BRING THE WHOLE FAMILY), a full service Business Center, lighted professional tennis courts, sand volleyball, Native American Heritage Center, a 36 hole golf course with a Hilton Golf Academy, and a casino next door.

There are 11 restaurants and bars (with food) onsite, including the gourmet Red Sage, moderate Mica Room, inexpensive Painted Parrot Buffet, Pueblo Deli, Pool Grille, Towa Golf Restaurant, Starbucks, Tower Lounge, Lobby Bar, Sports Bar and 24/7 in-room dining. Other options are nearby. There is also a free shuttle to the Santa Fe Plaza area for dozens of other options (plus more art galleries and shopping).

Another little benefit is lower taxes since it’s on tribal land.

The Google map below shows that the resort is directly North of Santa Fe on Rt. 285 near the town of Nambe.  285 is called St. Francis Rd. in town.  Click on a View Larger Map link to open a window with a full map that can be zoomed and scrolled.
