Carlos
Rosas and Debbie Rosas
Since 1975, Debbie Rosas and Carlos Rosas have been leaders and
pioneers in the fitness and wellness industry. They have devoted their
personal and professional lives toward the dream of creating a fitness
and lifestyle program that would meet the needs of all people. In 1983,
at the height of the "no-pain, no-gain" fitness mentality, Debbie and
Carlos created Nia, a more pleasurable way to get fit, maintain health,
and have more fun when working out. By taking off their shoes and
eliminating repetitive jogging and jumping, they catalyzed one of the
most dramatic changes to take place in the fitness industry—the
emergence of fusion-fitness. Their revolutionary body-mind-spirit
approach inspired the industry to accept non-traditional practices such
as tai chi, yoga, kick-boxing, and meditation as viable ways to get
fit. Today, The Nia Technique workout is considered the finest fusion
of eastern and western wisdom. More than 1200 licensed teachers offer
Nia in more than 29 countries around the world in traditional gyms and
fitness settings; college-accredited PE; dance and theatre departments;
drug, alcohol, sexual-abuse and cardiac rehabilitation clinics; spas,
wellness centers, and martial arts studios. In addition to being
keynote speakers at numerous health and fitness conferences, they are
the authors of "Holistic Fitness," in the AFAA training manual. They
are also the authors of four teacher-training manuals used in the Nia
certification program, which is accredited by ACE and AFAA. The Nia
Technique has produced eight videotape workouts and one meditation
tape. Their most recent book, The Nia Technique: The High-Powered
Energizing Workout That Gives You a New Body and a New Life, is a
reflection of more than 22 years of personal and professional
exploration and development, and is full of stories from Nia students
around the world. Debbie and Carlos live in Portland, Oregon, where
they teach and train at Nia’s international movement headquarters, Body
Moves — a Nia Space.

The Body’s Way – A Nia Approach to Living Through the
Sensation of Consciousness
— Carlos Rosas and Debbie Rosas —
La Terraza
In this energizing workshop, authors and Nia creators, Debbie Rosas
and Carlos Rosas share a powerful aspect of their revolutionary
conscious fitness program and lifestyle blueprint that blends together
the wisdom of three arts and presents an entirely new philosophy
on getting fit and staying healthy. Physically experience how to
turn consciousness into sensations you can use to expand the experience
of thinking, creating, living and being in your body. The beauty
of the Body’s Way is that it is a method that uses the body
in accord with its specific design and structure. Discover somatic
intelligence, connect to sensation, and communicate with the voices
of the body to activate your Sensory IQ – the intelligence
needed to make personal choices and decisions that lead to self-healing.
Turn living in your body into a highly-functional, pleasurable,
and joyful experience and discover how everything in your life
can positively change when you live the Body’s Way.
Goal: Connect to sensation, and awaken Sensory IQ, the Voice of
The Body that reflects body consciousness, a wisdom that together
with the mind, emotions and spirit, makes us whole.
Consciousness is a sensation that becomes aware of itself through
the physical form. Nia is a movement system that uses The Body's
Way.
Objectives
- To physically move and explore the sensation of consciousness
through organic and natural means—The Body's Way
