Keynote: The Sacred Marriage of the Divine Feminine and the Sacred Masculine
Monday, March 30 - 8:45 am to 10:00 am
Consciousness means expansion of our awareness and deepening of it. Clearly the 6500 year old patriarchal period from which we are striving to emerge has valued power over partnership. This talk will examine some of the emerging archetypes of the Divine Feminine and the Sacred Masculine that are striving to be heard above the din of continued reptilian brain energy that overvalues Yang energy at the expense of Yin energy (global warming?) and that prevents us from partnership dynamics. The Black Madonna and the Green Man will be explored, among other "Sacred Marriages" needed in our time.
Goal: To awaken awareness of the Divine Feminine and the Sacred Masculine.
Learning Objectives:
- To become more active in oneself, in one's work and culture,
- To bring about the deconstruction of a destructive, empire-driven definition of the Masculine, and
- Find more appropriate but ancient ways of telling the stories of the healthy Feminine and the healthy Masculine.
Workshop: The Return of the Sacred Masculine
Monday, March 30 - 10:30 am to 12:00 pm
The women's movement has accomplished amazing things in our lifetime including the return of the Goddess and the Divine Feminine. Men, who are running so many of our institutions from wallstreet to politics, religion to media, have trailed behind. While male liberation groups had some effect, they have not had nearly enough. In this workshop we will explore deep and ancient male archetypes that can awaken and truly challenge men, both young and old, to get off our couches and stand up to defend Mother Earth and her many species that are going extinct--including our own.
Goal: Give men and women workable and wise metaphors and archetypes for awakening their deepest selves.
Learning Objectives:
- Sharing intergenerational wisdom with the young,
- Challenging themselves to a new understanding,
- Challenging the predominant culture to detox the distorted view of the masculine.
