Visitor Information
Santa Fe - The City Different
Nestled in the foothills at the southern tip of the Rocky Mountains, Santa Fe is surrounded by thousands of acres of National Forest and wilderness, and yet it is only an hour's shuttle or drive to the Albuquerque International Airport.
Known as the "City Different" Santa Fe is a sophisticated small city linked to its remarkable history through its architecture, traditions and multi-cultural population. It is a city of abundant fine arts, world-class performing arts and natural beauty.
Add a few extra days to take in the area’s unique Spanish and Native American heritage. Visit one of the 19 Indian Pueblos or absorb the "City of Faith." Santa Fe is well known as a center for alternative healing, spirituality and culture as well as for art (with over 150 galleries). There is also hang-gliding, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding and hotsprings.
In town, a few museums you may want to visit include: Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of International Folk Art, Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, Palace of the Governors, Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian, Institute of American Indian Arts Museum, El Museo Cultural de Santa Fe and Santa Fe Children’s Museum.
With a drive or a tour you can visit Albuquerque, Taos, Carlsbad Caverns, Bandelier Cliff Dwellings, Petroglyph National Monument or take a ride on the world’s longest Tramway to the top of Sandia Peak.
