Magic to Science: Sapo and Ayahuasca: Investigating Two Traditional Pervuian Jungle Healing Substances Peter Gorman  Sunday, April 27 Peter will talk about two traditional indigenous medicines from the Amazon. One, Sapo, is the dried secretions of a tree frog which are burned into the skin of the Matses people of Peru for a variety of reasons, from hunting aid, to curing the grippe to determining the sex and health of an unborn fetus to abortion. That medicine, brought to the US in 1989 by Peter, has opened up a whole new field of scientific investigation: the study of amphibian peptides and their possible use in the human body. Peter will also discuss ayahuasca, the traditional visionary vine of Western Amazonia, which is utilized by nearly all inhabitants of the region. The discussion of ayahuasca, which does have utilitarian and scientifically quantifiable significance, is more a discussion of a medical philosophy than a medicine. The mindset of the people of Amazonia includes the concept that everything from bad luck to physical illnesses are symptoms of disturbances that occur on levels of consciousness humans cannot ordinarily access. But the use of ayahuasca permits temporary access to those realms, where the curandero, or doctor, can identify the cause, and often the cure, for the disturbance, and once the disturbance is eliminated, the physical symptoms will generally disappear on their own. The concept of the multiverse, i.e., that our universe is just a bubble among an infinite number of bubbles floating in a much larger 11 dimensional hyperspace will also be covered. Neuropeptides and Kabbalah: The Synthesis of Science and Spirit, Or Where Is the Mind? However, as details of our molecular biology emerge, it becomes clear that the only way to understand the human mind is within a larger framework than molecules and electric potentials. We need to discard Western concepts of mind-body communication and, therefore, duality, and expand our awareness to body-mind unity. The mind is not a separate entity in dialogue with our bodies. The mind is a complex informational system throughout our bodies, which enables our cells to talk with each other and the outside world. This understanding of the mind is held within the cosmology of the universe as described in the Kabbalah. The Altered States Paradigm for the Science of Consciousness Ralph Metzner Saturday, April 26 Within the framework of a Jamesian radical empiricism, the notion of "altered states" provides a systematic phenomenology for the whole range of human experience. An "altered state" is a period of time, in which psychic functioning (thinking, feeling, sensing, etc.) is significantly different than in the ordinary waking, or consensual state. This allows us to examine not only the ordinary, familiar states of waking, dreaming, sleeping and sex; also less common states like hypnotic,  psychoactive, shamanic, religious, creative and psychotic states; and the rare anomalous experiences like cosmic consciousness, spirit possession, mediumistic channelling or UFO abductions. The role of such states in psychotherapy and in spiritual growth practices will be discussed; as will the relationship of altered states to dissociation, both normal and pathological. Spaceflight: A Cognitive Psychology of Gravitational Orientation — Keynote Story Musgrave Sunday, April 27 Story shall present a paradigm that looks at the human as a perceiving, orienting and locomoting organism which has been created, evolved and constituted over billions of years by a gravitational vector orthogonal to the planetary surface. He will show how perception and orientation of the gravity vector is essential to the organism’s ability to perceive, orient, and operate within a three dimensional environment. Riding a rocket for eight minutes does not eliminate the influences of billions of years of evolution. Within the context of evolutionary biology and a cognitive psychology, i.e., self awareness and reflection on conscious phenomena, Story shall present the personal experiences of a gravitational creature in the free fall condition. Human Neuropsychological Orientation in Space Flight Story Musgrave Sunday, April 27 Story shall present specific detailed conscious phenomena concerned with the human perception, orientation and adaptation to the space flight environment. As one example: if in fact, the perception and orientation of a gravity vector orthogonal to a plane is essential to the creature in its perception, orientation, navigation and locomotion in three dimensional space, how does it carry on in the free fall condition when, at least in terms of the physics, there is no gravity vector and at times there is no planetary surface? In Story’s personal cognitive experience, the “creature” maintains or creates a vector, a cognitive sense of up and down even in the free fall condition where there is no physical vector. The creature continually recreates the earthly condition as necessary to make sense of the free fall condition to operate effectively in three dimensional space. As a case in point: on earth, every time without exception, that he experienced the actual Hubble Space Telescope or the various mockups of the telescope in a spatial, geometric way, the “top” of the telescope was in the “up” direction and the “bottom” was in the “down” direction with respect to the earth’s surface. The gravity vector then passed from the structural top of the telescope to its structural bottom. This orientation of the mockups was preserved throughout hundreds of hours in the choreography, training and simulation of the repair mission even when these were conducted in neutral buoyancy conditions under water. During the spacewalks in the free fall environment he had to maintain or create a cognitive gravity vector which oriented the top of the telescope in the “up” direction and the bottom down. It was impossible to do the dance when, as an experiment, he voluntarily moved the vector to some other orientation with respect to the structure of the telescope. During this workshop Story shall present other such cognitive phenomena occurring in the free fall condition and the contributions of various sensory systems to these perceptions. A Personal Approach to Neuropsychological Preflight Conditioning Story Musgrave  Monday, April 28 This workshop shall deal with the creature’s transition from gravitational earth to the free falling of space flight, the transformation from earth creature to space creature. As we have addressed in the keynote, the creature has evolved over billions of years in a gravity vector orthogonal to the planetary surface. Presumably, nothing in this creation and evolution would have anticipated or prepared our creature for free fall. Once in free fall, it must adapt, reprogram its perceptions, orientations and locomotions. On being thrust into free fall, fifty percent of people become significantly ill. The symptoms are very similar to classical motion sickness but the cause is free fall not aberrant motions, factors such as sensory conflict, not excessive vestibular stimulation. In this workshop Story shall present the potential contributions that a cognitive psychology could provide toward the understanding of Space Motion Sickness or Space Adaptation Syndrome. New Experimental Discoveries in Both ”Conditioned” and Remote Laboratory Spaces William TillerSunday, April 27 This presentation shows that the properties of materials, including biological, living materials, are electromagnetic (EM) Gauge symmetry specific. We have discovered a procedure, utilizing focused human intention from a meditative state, for raising the EM Gauge symmetry state of a laboratory space, an office space and probably a hospital space. In such a space, the effect of human intention has a very robust effect on physical reality, both locally and non-locally (which relates directly to remote viewing and distant healing possibilities). To date, we have shown that these results can be reproduced by others in their labs located thousands of miles away provided they follow our protocol and that we provide them with an active device for raising the EM Gauge symmetry state of their labs. A multidimensional theoretical model will be utilized to show how these effects can be quantitatively understood. The main goal of the presentation is (a) to convince the audience that critical experimental data exist wherein, under a specific experimental protocol, human intention can robustly affect physical property measurements (physical reality) of materials via altering the basic underlying symmetry state of the laboratory space and (b) to provide a higher dimensional model of nature wherein this new data can be understood. Learning Objectives, I (a) To show that a specific human intention, imbedded into a simple electrical device (IIED) can robustly alter material property measurements, (b) to show that it is possible, via this procedure, to raise or lower the pH of purified water by at least 1 pH unit with no chemical additions and (c) to show that it is possible to effectively expand this procedure to include in vitro biological materials and in vivo living organisms. Learning Objectives, II (a) To show that the prime intention directive for the IIED is communicated to the particular target experiment via other than standard electromagnetic pathways, (b) to show that continued use of the IIEDs raises the vacuum level symmetry state of nature in the laboratory space (to become like a “sacred” space) so that the information wave level of physical reality becomes measurable and (c) that human bodies have the infrastructure present to do these kinds of things themselves so long as they strengthen the inherent pattern by conscious, disciplined action.
